Urbanita is the name of C Gonzalez’s new reference, this time in escala. Four tracks of minimal dark which go with us in a slow and a worried travel that is became a warm and, in any moments, a dancer. A new stone in the each time more consolidated facet as C Gonzalez’s producer, co-responsible for Minuendo Recordings and artifice of other projects for different labels. A highly notable work in our private “escala”.

We start 2007 with a superb EP called Pez De Piscis, from musician and producer Gastón Arévalo (Montevideo, 1981). He’s a young
multidisciplinary artist from southamerica, his music has been released on numerous netlabels from Latinamerica and the European
Union, also, he’s involved on several netart and audiovisual projects.

With this new EP, Gastón shows us his particular world of digital and acoustic composition, sound and vision, dub attitude, aquatic rhythms and guitar licks full of reverb, four tracks that sounds like a whole, four different tracks that sounds like a musical family, in perfect harmony.

This beautiful EP closes with a remix to one of the tracks by mexican producer Rubén tamayo aka Fax.

ATLANTIC CENTER’S RESIDENCY PROGRAM

ATLANTIC CENTER’S RESIDENCY PROGRAM

aca.jpg

MAY 14 - JUNE 3, 2007 (Application Deadline: February 9, 2007) RESIDENCY #124

Since 1982, Atlantic Center’s residency program has provided artists from all artistic disciplines with spaces to live, work, and collaborate during three-week residencies. Located just four miles from the east coast beaches of central Florida, the pine and palmetto wooded environment contains award-winning studios that include a resource library, painting studio, sculpture studio, music studio, dance studio, black box theater, writer’s studio, and digital computer lab. Each residency session includes three master artists of different disciplines. The master artists each personally select a group of associates - talented, emerging artists - through an application process administered by ACA. During the residency, artists participate in informal sessions with their group, collaborate on projects, and work independently on their own projects. The relaxed atmosphere and unstructured program provide considerable time for artistic regeneration and creation. Atlantic Center for the Arts provides housing (private room/bath with work desk), weekday meals (provided by ACA chef) and 24 hour access to shared studio space. Financial Aid is available to qualified applicants.

conferencia ACHIM WOLLSCHEID

martes 31 de enero . 11:00
EHU/UPV, Facultad de BBAA, Leioa (Bizkaia)
gratis

Pd logo

The PureData Convention Steering Committee and the PureData community in Montréal are pleased to host l’œuvre ouverte, the 2nd International PureData Convention. Montréal has a diverse artistic community dedicated to the exploration of new technology and interdisciplinary exchanges with technically engaged groups. Collaboratively developed new media tools such as PureData have found their way into several facets of our artistic landscape including visual art, music, sound art, theatre, dance and VJ culture. The ever-increasing public appreciation and interest in tools like PureData are evidence of the substantial research and development being conducted in the larger community. This is the result of the dissemination efforts and commitment of several media arts organizations and the ongoing exchanges carried out by grassroots networks such as the Montréal PureData user group (PDMTL).

L’œuvre ouverte will consist of a series of conferences, demonstrations, round table discussions, performances and exhibitions. The convention will strive to reflect on the aesthetics and politics of free Open Source software culture by focusing on the development, artistic uses and critical writing about PureData. L’œuvre ouverte will advance the collective development of PureData through group coding sessions and by fostering a constructive dialogue among programmers, users and theoreticians. We are fortunate to have the support of some of Canada’s key media arts organizations and institutions as partners. Their involvement in hosting the convention not only has secured high-quality venues and locales for our activities but also ensures that the event will draw key stakeholders both from the international and national PureData community, building on the success of the first convention held in 2004 in Graz, Austria.

The PureData community in Canada along with the Canadian media arts artists and arts organizations look forward to welcoming their international counterparts and to actively contribute to the development of PureData on this occasion of partnership and exchange.

  • August 21st-26th 2007, Montréal Canada
  • Deadline for artworks and workshops: February 28th 2007
  • Deadline for papers: March 31st

TOUCH’N'GO: ECOLOGICAL MODELS IN COMPOSITION

TOUCH’N'GO: ECOLOGICAL MODELS IN COMPOSITION

Damián Keller 1999

Maestro, Esc. Nac. de Música J.P. Esnaola, 1988
Bacharel, Universidade de Brasília, 1995

abstract
touch’n’go is a fifty-minute tape and text piece, published as an enhanced compact disc, and as a custom CD-ROM. The CD-ROM includes the eleven sections of the piece, short Spanish and English texts - in HyperText Language Markup format - for each section, Csound code used to produce the sound material with most of the necessary samples. touch’n’go is the first attempt to apply an ecological approach in composition. This approach draws from soundscape techniques, physical models, and ecological models, expanding the existing palette of tools for synthesis and transformation of everyday sounds.

WORK OVERTURE PROJECT in the 37th FESTIVAL SYNTHESE BOURGES 2007

CALLING ON THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY OF ELECTROACOUSTIC MUSIC AND SONIC ART
for a WORK OVERTURE PROJECT
in the 37th FESTIVAL SYNTHESE BOURGES 2007 “MELANCHOLY”

bourges-title_back.jpg

The theme of the Open Work 2007 is Melancholy.

One constant linking all the varied faces of Melancholy through the ages has been that music brings consolation to the melancholy soul.
We suggest reversing this order and letting Melancholy bring consolation to music, or at least inspire it, not without a certain nostalgia.
As a counter-example we propose this extract from Mémoire sur la manière de guérir la mélancolie par la musique (Report on how to cure melancholy by music) by Pierre-Joseph Buchoz from the year 1769 :
“The music to be employed to cure the dry melancholic disposition should begin with the lowest notes and move gradually to the highest notes. By this harmonic movement the stiff fibers, accustomed to various degrees of vibration, learn to become more flexible.
Those on the contrary of moist melancholic disposition require for its cure cheerful, loud, lively and varied music, for it is more suited to move and stiffen the fibres”.
Thus do the fibers and vibrations, moved by the timbres, the gradual progression of the notes and the glissandi through the dispositions, bring to those who hear them relaxation and happiness.

Every year, the participation of composers and sound artists is more and more important to the overture project. This is the reason why the organizers have decided to change some terms of the proposal:
All works will be played continuously during Festival “Synthèse 2007″
Listeners will communicate their appreciations and preferences
From this base, the organizers will distinguish twenty pieces
These 20 pieces will be programmed in two concerts of the serie “Actuelles Internationales” at the 38th festival “Synthèse 2008″
The other conditions are not modified :
The work overture project is opened to all composers, creators and sonic sculptors who wish to participate.
All works have to be finished before mid - May 2007. Works have to be on this theme only, otherwise they will not be played.
The duration of your work must span not less than 4 and not more than 6 minutes.
Your work must be exempt from all broadcasts and reproduction rights, excepted of course author’s royalties.
You must send your work using one of the following media: CD, Dat.
Your work will be kept at the IMEB’s International Sound Library.

To take part in the work overture project you must accept all the conditions in the agreement.

Dates :
If you are interested in the work overture project:
Please let us know of your decision and send us the information on your work title and duration before the end of March 2007.

The participants’ list will be published on the IMEB’s site (www.imeb.net) at the end of March.

Please send us exclusively by email your programme note, biography and photography before April 30, 2007. All information sent to us will be published in the Festival program at www.imeb.net.

Please send us your work between April 30, 2007 and May 10, 2007 the latest.
